About The Position

Provides pastoral/spiritual support to all those faced with crisis, illness, survival, dying, death, grief and spiritual distress. Honors the individual spiritual journeys of patients, caregivers, family members, staff and volunteers. Provides spiritual care through services and in collaboration with local faith communities.

Requirements

  • Experience in ministry required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in pastoral care ministry or related field required.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and ability to learn other software as needed.
  • Current Driver’s License required.
  • Must possess a good driving record clear of moving violations in the past five (5) years and no major driving offenses (DUI, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess ability to work with the community and function collaboratively with supervisor, medical staff, local clergy, and other religious leaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Current RQI BLS CPR must be successfully obtained within one (1) month of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred.
  • APC / NACC certification preferred.
  • Master in Divinity preferred.
  • Ordination preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Offers compassionate spiritual and emotional care to patients and their families through prayer, attentive listening, comforting words and non-anxious presence.
  • Works with other professionals (physicians, case managers, nurses, social workers, etc.) to optimize quality of patient care. These may include, but are not limited to; interdisciplinary rounding’s, department meetings, consult requests, etc.
  • Assists patients and families in making end-of-life decisions as appropriate.
  • May assist leadership in identifying ways to improve the spiritual care offered to patients.
  • Documents patient contacts in electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely manner.
  • Assists leadership in maintaining resources in the chapel per department protocol.
  • May assist leadership in maintaining and scheduling volunteer chaplain calendars as needed.
  • Offers support to staff in stress and/or crisis.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
