About The Position

Sonoco, a global leader in packaging solutions, is seeking a Spiral Technician for their tube and core division at the Dalton, GA plant. This role involves working in a fast-paced production environment, supporting the carpet yarn line operator and crew. The position requires excellent attendance, a proven record of success in fast-paced settings, the ability to collaborate with teams, and a keen eye for quality defects. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong analytical and hands-on skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the carpet yarn line operator and other crew members.
  • Learn and perform all required machine and support equipment set ups.
  • Operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Operate cutter for carpet yarn tubes.
  • Perform machine preventative maintenance on equipment related to the carpet yarn line.
  • Operate the machine on a substitute basis.
  • Interpret and understand Oracle production orders and requirements.
  • Enter required data into Oracle.
  • Report and track production information, including scrap, machine efficiency, machine down time, and paper usage.
  • Assist other crew members with set ups, packaging, quality requirements, and production specifications.
  • Document and maintain machine logs.
  • Report quality measurements and metrics.
  • Perform machine set ups.
  • Understand buildups and tube constructions.
  • Perform cutter set up procedures.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and communicate them to management.
