About The Position

The Spine Coordinator manages patient journeys for spine conditions, acting as a liaison between patients, providers, and external facilities. This role involves handling scheduling, care coordination, providing pre/post-operative instructions, managing insurance authorizations, maintaining Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and ensuring smooth transitions across the care continuum for optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare, clinical, or hospital setting.
  • LPN or CMA, current and in good standing.
  • Experience in medical records, claims, or billing.
  • Strong keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Able to perceive and interpret written, oral/verbal material and generate written and electronic material.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance terminology.
  • Experience with insurance authorizations and eligibility.
  • Knowledgeable in programs such as Availity and insurance websites.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact, answering questions, addressing concerns, and relaying information between patients and providers.
  • Schedule new and returning patients, ensuring they see the most appropriate provider, and coordinating injections, diagnostic tests, and surgeries.
  • Track patient progress, arrange follow-ups, communicate with outside facilities, and manage referrals.
  • Follow up on test results.
  • Request, review, and upload external records (like MRIs) into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Handle patient intake, update records, manage authorizations, and may assist providers with procedures or post-operative care.
  • Guide patients and caregivers through the surgical process, explaining expectations for before, during, and after treatment.
  • Complete all required compliance and safety training.
  • Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
