You will fabricate some of the world’s most advanced optical components used in the most advanced semiconductor photolithography machines. We at ASML are seeking self-motivated individuals to add to our growing team of Optical Technicians in the Spindle Polishing Technician role. No prior experience is required for the position. We are looking for individuals who have exceptional attention to detail, are skilled at precision tasks and passionate about cutting-edge technology! If you enjoy working with hand tools for woodworking, electronics, or jewelry, this opportunity might be a fit for you! Our processing competencies include machining glass materials, grinding and polishing surfaces of optical components, operating deposition chambers, aligning and assembling glass parts, and measuring optical characteristics using advanced metrology equipment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Intermediate mathematical skills including use of basic math and geometry.
  • Ability to polish precision optics on conventional spindles.
  • Ability to work safely on fragile, high value optics.
  • Possess blueprint interpretation skills.
  • Familiarity with using the following measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, and pH meters.
  • Ability to work individually or in a team setting with other technicians and/or engineers.
  • Ability to cross train in a flexible manufacturing cell environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in small groups to operators, management and engineers.
  • Commitment to task and results orientation to complete scheduled activities and report status throughout your shift.
  • Attention to detail to deliver quality results from your processing step, including visually inspecting your work to detect and report any abnormalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a vocational trade preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing facility or completion of a vocational certification preferable.
  • Participation in continuous improvement efforts (quality circles, kaizen events, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus.
  • Previous optical spindle polishing knowledge is a plus
  • An example would be experience reading and interpreting topographical maps.

Responsibilities

  • Must be willing to work a compressed work week schedule- twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week
  • Without direct supervision, pitch polish optics to desired specification using spindle polishing machines.
  • Clean, inspect, and test optics using a variety of equipment.
  • Verify the accuracy of finished product, as well as support processes and product development.
  • Perform blocking and unblocking of parts.
  • Ability to work with pitch, pressing and cutting laps.
  • Perform visual surface inspection of all optical components to ISO standards.
  • Protect and clean components.
  • Measure workpiece for conformance to specifications using various measuring equipment, including, but not limited to, the Zygo Interferometer.
  • Notify supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Follow written and verbal English work instructions that describe the process and the required measurements.
  • Actively monitor and take ownership of optical processing equipment
  • Handle delicate optical components and visually identify any abnormal characteristics.
  • Maintain area, tooling, and equipment to 5S area standards.
  • Identify and escalate any unsafe conditions, product or process quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Perform assigned work content to support area and factory schedule execution.
  • Collaborate with the Production Engineering and Manufacturing Management teams to improve operational efficiency and effectivity.
  • Learn and apply skills to tackle progressively more challenging products.
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in how your work is defined and performed, and more broadly within your area, to improve safety, quality, output, and cycle time.
  • Inspect and create a map of glass surfaces showing all minute defects.
  • Clean optical surfaces of all particles and contaminants.
  • Accurately record time and attendance.
  • Assist with training new and existing employees
