About The Position

The Speech Therapist conducts developmental evaluations and assessments across cognitive, self-help/adaptive, fine and gross motor, communication, and social-emotional domains as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role uses standardized tools, curriculum-based assessments, and naturalistic observations to develop an informed clinical opinion. The therapist interprets assessment results and maintains appropriate records; provides training and support groups for families, staff, school personnel, therapists, and professional organizations; and mentors and trains speech and language interns. The position also runs specialty clinics within the center and/or community and participates in developing appropriate developmental outcomes and strategies as part of the multidisciplinary team.

This is a time-limited position whose length depends on circumstances such as the funding source. A background check and health assessment are required. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume/CV, and three references.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology.
• Active Florida license as a speech-language pathologist.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Ability to administer, analyze, interpret, and explain evaluation/assessment results to peers, other professionals, and families.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively and courteously verbally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments.
• Ability to interact effectively with staff and outside contacts.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university or college.
