About The Position

The Staff level I Speech Language Pathologist are responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning of all patients referred for their given services. The Speech Therapist is an integral healthcare provider accountable to assist the patient to their highest level of function. The Staff Level I Therapist will uphold the mission, vision, and values of Jefferson Health. Works in conjunction with other health care professionals to coordinate treatment plans and care. The SLP will provide evaluation and treatment to adult patients across core areas of practice, with a focus on the following: Swallowing & Instrumental Assessment, Voice & Gender-Affirming Care, and Professional Attributes. Essential Functions include providing therapy evaluations, treatment planning, treatment interventions and discharge planning for a full patient caseload in various settings. The role also involves participating in student education, planning and delivering treatment programs, utilizing tools and techniques for safe therapeutic interventions, and documenting patient progress.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • 0-2 years of clinical practice required.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • State License required.
  • CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Independent in performing and interpreting Video fluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS)
  • Early competency in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), with progression toward independent practice
  • Experience managing swallowing and communication needs for head and neck cancer patients across the continuum of care
  • Independent in voice evaluations and treatment, including complex voice disorders
  • Strong interest in gender-affirming voice therapy
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, mentorship, and advanced skill development

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy evaluations, treatment planning, treatment interventions and discharge planning for a full patient caseload in acute care, skilled facility, acute rehab, outpatient settings as appropriate.
  • Participate in student education: Part-time e.g. ICE, OT level 1 or a full-time student.
  • Participates in education and teaching commensurate with novice clinician.
  • Plans, organizes and delivers treatment programs that help clients/patients recover and rehabilitate.
  • Utilizes tools and techniques to administer safe therapeutic interventions and trainings, for patient and families.
  • Records and documents clients/patients' health progress information for evaluation, all therapeutic interventions including daily treatments, progress notes, evaluations and discharge summaries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
