About The Position

Silver Cross Hospital is seeking a Speech Pathologist for its Acute Care unit. This role involves providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for speech, language, voice, swallow, and fluency disorders. The Speech Pathologist will evaluate patient needs, establish goals, and plan and conduct treatment. This position requires effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members, serving all life spans from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree program from an accredited college or university.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current License as a speech-language pathologist from the State of Illinois.

Nice To Haves

  • Floating to IPR (Inpatient Rehabilitation) as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, treat, evaluate, and implement a Plan of Care (POC) for the assigned patient population.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the admission process, treatment costs, financial support, and appropriate billing.
  • Practice under ASHA standards and the SLP Practice Act of IL.
  • Maintain a superior work ethic, professional image, and appropriate dress.
  • Work in collaboration with the physician.
  • Provide supportive supervision of SLP students.
  • Promote a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing SAFE error prevention habits.
  • Ensure the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality for patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct.
  • Complete documentation of all patient care activities in the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
  • Develop professional skills by completing appropriate development plans, participating in continuing education and in-service offerings, using written resources to stay current with advancements, and seeking expertise within and outside the Department.
  • Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Uphold professional standards and responsibilities by achieving service competence and applying evidence-based interventions.
  • Include Saturday and Sunday rotation work as applicable.
