About The Position

Conducts clinical speech and language pathology services including patient evaluation, interpretation of evaluation results and intervention relating to various diagnoses for pediatric, child, adult and geriatric patients. The therapist will accurately assess and treat language/speech and swallowing impairments resulting from neurological insult/disease, developmental disabilities and delays, impaired oral motor abilities or laryngeal functions, dehydration/malnutrition or change in anatomy secondary to trauma or surgery. Communicates with physicians and other referral sources, and provides clinical guidance to non-licensed personnel. Works with various healthcare team members. The Therapist will administer contrast media, under the direct supervision of the attending radiologist, during videofluoroscopy in order to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of swallowing. Individual Therapists are assigned age population as per training.

Requirements

  • Meets educational requirements for ASHA certification.
  • A minimum of 36 hours of continuing education must be accrued.
  • 2 years of active licensed SLP experience is required.
  • Competent in 2-3 of the following areas: Bedside Swallow Evaluation, Videofluoroscopy, Blue Dye Swallow Evaluation.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Current California licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • BLS Required.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) through.
  • Annual 2 hours of stroke education required for those working at QVH.

Nice To Haves

  • Under extenuating circumstances, a grace period of no more than one month will be allowed for ASHA Certification of Clinical Competency renewals.
