About The Position

As a Speech Pathologist, your compassion, patience, and dedication to assisting patients with their communication abilities greatly enhance their quality of life. This Per Diem position is located at United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) in Batavia, NY. The role involves providing evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with problems in cognition, communication, and/or deglutition using accepted techniques and equipment within the guidelines of the organization's policies and procedures and professional standards of practice. The Speech Pathologist will assess and restore patients' function, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities by designing, planning, and implementing medically prescribed speech-language pathology interventions. Additionally, the role requires providing superior customer service by modeling the Brand Promise and Core Values.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology (may be MA, MS, Med)
  • For recent graduates: Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR Eligible to participate in a supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit, followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of the NYS license.
  • New York State licensure or
  • For recent graduates: Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR Eligible to participate in supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit and followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of NYS license.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in a medical setting preferred
  • Prior Speech-Language Pathology experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the patient's goals and needs by providing quality, evidence-based care; assess, develop, and implement an individualized treatment plan
  • Help patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices/recommendations; instruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing daily living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices
  • Develop the speech-language therapy staff; provide information, develop and conduct in-service training programs
