About The Position

This is a training position that provides clinical experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients with voice and swallowing disorders. Successful completion leads to qualification for licensure to operate as an independent Speech Language Pathologist. It offers opportunities and benefits of academic research with Otolaryngology residents and Voice Center faculty. Under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist, the individual will perform and document various tests to evaluate and monitor speech and swallowing patients in the clinical setting. This includes baseline and specialized voice and laryngeal testing, FEES and FEESST studies, modified barium swallow studies, acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessments, voice and swallowing evaluations and therapy, and Botox use for treatment of voice abnormalities. The role involves communicating care plans, counseling patients, and handling patient questions. It also requires interpreting and communicating results and patient care options to physicians and ensuring patients clearly understand their diagnosis and treatment plans. The individual will work with their manager to formulate a plan for professional development and enhancement of clinical skills, and maintain and enhance knowledge and technical skills by engaging in continuing education activities and attending educational in-services. Participation in professional activities and organizations is expected to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. The role involves interaction in a multidisciplinary voice clinic staffed by specialists in Laryngology, Speech Language Pathology, and the singing voice. Work will be performed in a state-of-the-art voice laboratory under the mentorship of the Voice Center staff. The position requires effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, patients, and the general public. Other related duties as required will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited graduate program in Speech Language Pathology at Master's Degree Level.
  • Must present a strong academic background and solid recommendations from graduate training program and supervisors during clinical practicum.
  • Georgia Paid Clinical Experience (PCE) license required.
  • BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities
