About The Position

Reporting to the Training & Education Supervisor, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)-Training and Education Specialist plays a key role in editing, packaging and delivering high-quality educational content and training programs designed by our subject matter expert consultants that align with Autism Ontario's mission of creating a supportive and inclusive Ontario for autism. This role supports the capacity-building efforts of internal staff and external stakeholders, ensuring content is evidence-informed and accessible to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in autism and developmental service delivery.
  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • An understanding of the Ontario Autism Program (OAP)
  • Awareness of adult learning principles and designing accessible, inclusive, and engaging educational content.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and workshop facilitation.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and managing multiple projects with efficiency.
  • Must be proficient with various computer programs, including email, Microsoft 365 applications, and virtual meeting/presentation platforms, and have some familiarity with social media and other technology tools and approaches
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, neurodiversity, equity, inclusion, anti- racism, anti-Black racism, anti-ableism
  • Strong attention to detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.

Nice To Haves

  • Non-profit sector experience an asset.
  • experience working with clients accessing the program is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency (French/English) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Autism Ontario’s mission, vision, and values are reflected in the development, delivery, and evaluation of all training and education initiatives.
  • Contribute to the implementation and assessment of strategic goals specific to Autism Ontario’s training and education programs, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to training delivery, including content accuracy, accessibility, and cultural relevance, while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Build capacity within Autism Ontario by collaborating and facilitating training on a variety of speech, language, and communication topics for audiences including staff and families with and without knowledge of autism.
  • Co-design content and deliver training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs tailored to diverse audiences, including internal staff, caregivers, and providers.
  • Ensure that training programs reflect Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles, and reflect different modalities and accessibility needs.
  • Co-design virtual and print-based material from SME-supplied content and SLP-informed interventions into Autism Ontario’s training and educational initiatives for staff and external stakeholders.
  • Represent Autism Ontario at events, conferences, and public forums when appropriate.
  • Provide support to and work collaboratively with the Service Navigation team to address speech, language, and social communication abilities.
  • Stay current on industry certifications, legislative updates, and professional development opportunities relevant to autism and training delivery.
  • Maintain professional certification and pursue continuing education opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
