About The Position

Under the supervision and observation of a New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist supervisor, this role involves evaluating and developing therapeutic plans for individuals with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to speech-language pathology. The position focuses on addressing oral motor, communication, and feeding needs, providing habilitation/rehabilitation services, and utilizing therapeutic devices. The Clinical Fellow will also plan and supervise the use of equipment and exercise regimens with patients, families, and/or significant others. Participation in patient communication and interdisciplinary care planning is essential. The role requires contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records, tracking hours, meeting with a supervisor, and adhering to clinical fellowship protocols. The scope of practice must align with ASHA and NYSED supervised experience requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in speech-language pathology from a New York State registered licensure qualifying program, a program accredited by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) or the equivalent.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Highly flexible personality type.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and knowledge of AAC/AT and communication applications.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and develops therapeutic plans to address oral motor, communication, and feeding needs.
  • Provides Speech and Language Habilitation/Rehabilitation services.
  • Treats individuals with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Uses therapeutic devices and equipment to prevent regression or restore maximum performance of speech and language modalities.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises patients, family, and/or significant others in the use of equipment and exercise regimen.
  • Participates in patient communication and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Completes contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records.
  • Keeps track of hours, meets with direct supervisor, and ensures adherence to clinical fellowship protocols.
  • Follows the scope of practice as outlined by ASHA and NYSED.

Benefits

  • Upon successful completion of CFY and obtaining professional licensure with NY state, yearly salary will increase to $75,000/year.
