About The Position

Friendship is looking for a Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist to join our Friendship Richfield Health Center team, located in Salem, VA. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for preventing, assessing, diagnosing and treating speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in residents.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a long-term care/rehabilitation facility preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete screenings and patient evaluations according to departmental policies and procedures
  • Establish, implement and execute goal-oriented treatment plans and programs in coordination with other departments
  • Evaluate treatment plan progressions to identify any deficiencies and make adjustments as may be necessary
  • Provide aural rehabilitation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological disorders
  • Work with people who don’t’ have speech, language, or swallowing disorders, but want to learn to communicate more effectively
