About The Position

Gillette Children's is seeking a pediatric speech language pathologist (SLP) to join our rehabilitative team at our Maple Grove clinic location. The position is casual for the purpose of covering PTO of the Maple Grove SLP team. This role provides direct and indirect family-centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence, and community integration. Therapists are expected to spend the majority of their work day in direct patient care, including same-day documentation while providing safe patient care.

Requirements

  • Speech Language Pathology State License
  • Pending credentials: Registration and Licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status and completion of CFY for Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
  • Competency in speech language pathology evaluation, treatment and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
  • Excellent customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • ASHA Certification strongly preferred for Speech Therapists
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred
  • Feeding clinic experience
  • Experience with AAC devices, including programming.

Responsibilities

  • Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.
  • Designs assessment consistent with goals of evaluation, provider order, patient / family input and priorities.
  • Obtains necessary history and background information.
  • Selects evaluation methods, tools, and environment to obtain valid and reliable assessment specific to the patient’s age and developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, cognitive and behavioral status.
  • Administers evaluation consistent with best practices and Gillette competencies.
  • Interprets evaluation for to the patient / family and seeks their assessment of the evaluation’s reliability and validity.
  • Makes recommendations for treatment, referrals, equipment, resources and home and community based activities.
  • Documents and bills for evaluation based on education and guidelines provided by the Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare Rehabilitation Therapies Revenue Cycle Team.

Benefits

  • The hourly wage for this opportunity is $35.46 to $53.17, with a median wage of $44.31/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity.
