About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, Texas is actively seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their dynamic Transdisciplinary Neuro Transitional Rehabilitation team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in a holistic and individualized approach, delivering expected outcomes to help serve individuals with TBI, Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, and other neurological diseases patients return home, work, school, and the community. The position is located at a brand new facility next to the Downtown Dallas Rehabilitation hospital on the BUMC campus. This inpatient post-hospital facility is designed to provide individualized attention and practice skills learned and compensatory strategies in a home and community environment. Requirements

  • Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association or eligibility for Certification pending professional experience required.
  • Certified BLS or completion in the first 90 days of employment required.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • SCI, TBI, Stroke, and Post-Acute Neuro Rehabilitation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans and deliver skilled interventions for patients in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry and specialty units
  • Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and make recommendations regarding NPO status, diet levels and instrumental assessments
  • Document timely and accurately in the electronic medical record per hospital and regulatory standards
  • Completing patient/family and staff education related to communication, cognition and swallowing, as appropriate
  • Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives within our team
