Speech Language Pathologist - Outpatient, Atrium Health University, Full-time
About The Position
Atrium Health University Outpatient Therapy Services offers comprehensive, patient-centered rehabilitation through a collaborative team of speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other rehabilitation professionals. The speech therapy program specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adult swallowing, voice, speech, and language disorders, serving patients with neurological conditions, head and neck cancer, injury, and other complex medical diagnoses. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, Speech-Language Pathologists partner with physicians and therapy colleagues to deliver evidence-based care that improves communication, enhances swallowing safety, and supports patients in achieving their highest level of function and quality of life. This position is not eligible for a clinical fellowship. This is a full-time role for our adult's location at University City outpatient. Candidates will be ideally experienced with medical outpatient management of swallowing, voice, speech, and language disorders. PD certification such as SPEAK OUT! preferred.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
- Applicable state license for Speech Language Pathology required.
- BLS required per policy guidelines.

- PD certification such as SPEAK OUT! preferred.
- Possibility of floating time into our telehealth department for an interested candidate.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient evaluation and care planning for speech-language pathology.
- Delivers patient care appropriate to age specific and other population needs.
- Provides clinical leadership.
- Assesses and documents patient's medical, mental and emotional needs at admission and on an on-going basis.
- Develops and implements a plan of care to meet patient and family needs, to include discharge planning and utilization of available resources.
- Acts as patient advocate; treats patients and families with compassion and implements plan of care in a safe and timely manner.
- Demonstrates clinical reasoning, coupled with clinical skills to conduct accurate clinical assessments and perform patient care activities; evaluates effectiveness of therapy interventions, identifies and prioritizes patient/family strengths, needs and priorities.
- Identifies the normal course of illness in assigned patient population recognizing and intervening appropriately when deviations occur.
- Communicates patient information and thoroughly documents therapist's actions and plan of care.
- Provides clinical leadership and mentoring.
