The Speech & Language Pathologist works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors, and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment. This role provides medically related therapy services to ensure residents attain or maintain their highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, prioritizing resident choice and comfort. All services must align with facility policies, quality improvement guidelines, and relevant regulations. The Speech & Language Pathologist participates in resident-centered care and team-based management, engaging in daily life activities within their assigned household. The core focus of SEM Haven is resident-centered care based on resident choice, fostering a family environment that includes residents, staff, and their families. The ultimate goal is to support each member. The staff member's role is to provide residents with support, friendship, and kindness, enabling them to live as independently as they wish. The most crucial function is to treat everyone with respect, recognizing that all individuals are equally important. As part of a family team, staff members have the additional responsibility to perform necessary tasks to maintain life within the household, within their knowledge and training. These tasks may include assisting with food preparation/serving, tidying living and work areas, removing trash, cleaning spills, transporting residents, attending household meetings/learning circles, and fulfilling simple resident requests.
