About The Position

This position is an anticipated vacancy, expected to be vacant by 06/26/2026. The hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and the candidate may start as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year. The role involves providing services to students with communication disabilities to enable them to access the BPS curriculum and participate in school and community life. Requirements

  • Massachusetts Teachers Certification in Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders
  • Massachusetts License in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed
  • Current authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation: Assess students referred for evaluation using appropriate testing instruments. Write reports reflecting test results and observations, providing helpful and understandable information with clear recommendations. Evaluations must be performed within established timelines.
  • Speech and Language Therapy Services: Provide therapy and consultation services based on individual student needs and in compliance with IEP or 504 Plans. Participate in pre-referral, Team Meeting, and Student Support Team activities. Provide professional development to school-based staff as requested. Consult with other Related Services providers, teachers, and parents for effective service delivery in various settings.
  • General Responsibilities: Comply with state regulations for renewal of certifications and licenses. Develop, update, and adhere to daily and weekly schedules, providing a copy to the principal. Comply with BPS rules, policies, and procedures, as well as those of assigned school(s) and Unified Student Services. Maintain records of prior lesson planning and keep therapy notes for each child and session. Maintain accurate records of student attendance.
