About The Position

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield is a 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital operated jointly with Lifepoint Health. It serves patients recovering from strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides patient care in a fast-paced rehabilitation setting, helping patients and families through assessment, treatment, education, and discharge planning. The schedule is varied PRN days.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Licensed Speech Therapist with current licensure from the Missouri Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Passion for helping others and ability to work as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
• Design and implement an appropriate plan of care for identified problems, involving the patient and family.
• Educate and counsel patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
• Plan or assist with patient discharge from therapy services.
• Supervise the activities of clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
