About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats individuals with voice, fluency, speech, language and swallowing disorders. This role provides quality care in the evaluation and treatment of voice, fluency, speech, language, and swallowing impaired patients. The position requires documenting evaluation and treatment efforts, billing for equipment and services, and communicating effectively with patients, families, staff, physicians, and referral sources. The Speech Language Pathologist is also responsible for maintaining and upgrading clinical skills through continuing education, sharing knowledge with peers, and participating in patient care conferences, departmental programs, in-services, and meetings. Quality Improvement activities and demonstrating productivity are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

Doctoral degree or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited institution.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent, required upon hire or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Pennsylvania or New Jersey, based on work location, is required.
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is required.
Pennsylvania license in Speech Pathology.
Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Provides quality care in the evaluation and treatment of voice, fluency, speech, language, and swallowing impaired patients.
Documents evaluation and treatment efforts as well as patient response to treatment in accordance with established professional guidelines.
Bills patient’s accounts for equipment and services rendered.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff members, physicians and referral sources.
Maintains and upgrades clinical skills by participating in continuing education activities, shares knowledge with peers.
Participates in patient care conferences (eg. Rehab team) as needed, departmental programs (eg. Better Speech and Hearing Month activities) , in-services, and departmental and section meetings.
Participates in Quality Improvement activities in the Department and the hospital.
Demonstrates productivity in terms of volume of patients seen for speech pathology services.
