About The Position

This is a long-term substitute position for a Speech Language Pathologist. The role involves conducting assessments to identify communication disorders, developing IEP goals, and providing therapy to students with a wide range of communication needs. The position also requires participation in evaluations, collaboration with various stakeholders, and adherence to federal and state mandates.

Requirements

  • Master of Arts or Science Degree (minimum)
  • Valid Illinois State Approval in Speech/Language

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to identify students with communication disorders and inform instruction and intervention.
  • Complete reports and develop IEP goals and objectives.
  • Participate in initial evaluations, reevaluations, annual reviews, and parent conferences.
  • Provide therapy to students with language, articulation/phonology, fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing disorders.
  • Use prevention/intervention approaches for students at risk for academic failure.
  • Gather and interpret data for individual students and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, staff, child study team members, other SLPs, administration, professional learning community members, and community members.
  • Provide services to support the instructional program at a school.
  • Attend continuing education experiences to update knowledge and skills.
  • Meet federal and state mandates and local policies.
  • Engage in activities such as IEP development, Medicaid billing, report writing, and treatment plan/therapy log development.
  • Pursue educational studies to maintain and improve professional performance.
