About The Position

This is a long-term substitute position for a Speech Language Pathologist. The role involves conducting assessments to identify communication disorders, developing IEP goals, and providing therapy to students with a wide range of communication needs. The position also requires participation in evaluations, collaboration with various stakeholders, and adherence to federal and state mandates.

Requirements

Master of Arts or Science Degree (minimum)
Valid Illinois State Approval in Speech/Language

Responsibilities

Conduct assessments to identify students with communication disorders and inform instruction and intervention.
Complete reports and develop IEP goals and objectives.
Participate in initial evaluations, reevaluations, annual reviews, and parent conferences.
Provide therapy to students with language, articulation/phonology, fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing disorders.
Use prevention/intervention approaches for students at risk for academic failure.
Gather and interpret data for individual students and program evaluation.
Collaborate with students, parents, staff, child study team members, other SLPs, administration, professional learning community members, and community members.
Provide services to support the instructional program at a school.
Attend continuing education experiences to update knowledge and skills.
Meet federal and state mandates and local policies.
Engage in activities such as IEP development, Medicaid billing, report writing, and treatment plan/therapy log development.
Pursue educational studies to maintain and improve professional performance.
