About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a highly motivated Speech Therapist to join their acute care rehabilitation team at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital Rehabilitation. In this role, the therapist will evaluate and treat patients recovering from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurologic and medically complex conditions. The position plays a vital role in helping patients regain communication, cognitive, and swallowing functions. The greatest need at this time is Saturday coverage. This position offers the unique opportunity to cross-train at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital Denton, allowing for expanded clinical expertise across two distinct rehabilitation settings. The therapist will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Masters' degree
  • Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) certification/license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Excellent social relation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude in assigned areas as specified for each clinician
  • Proven face-to-face synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team
  • Proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
  • High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

  • Saturday coverage is the greatest need.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, treats and monitors patient within the speech pathology treatment plan.
  • Modifies therapy program and goals.
  • Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner.
  • Enters charges accurately.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and the medical care team.
  • Provides education to patients, family, and staff.
  • Supervises students and volunteers.
  • Clinical fellowship mentors and those in their clinical fellowship period follow the American Speech Language Hearing Association supervision guidelines.
  • Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review, and evidence-based practice.
  • Imparts knowledge to develop colleagues' clinical skills.
  • Adheres to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains awareness of system goals.
  • Aligns personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.
