About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a vital role within Kindred Hospital - Houston Northwest, a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) dedicated to patients with complex medical needs requiring extended recovery time. The hospital specializes in treating conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, complex wounds, and congestive heart failure, often for patients requiring ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy. The SLP will contribute to the mission of making communities healthier by evaluating and treating individuals with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders, thereby supporting patient recovery and communication improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current SLP license and ASHA certification.
  • CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in acute or rehab setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and clinical judgement required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess speech, language, and swallowing abilities.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding therapy goals.
  • Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress accurately.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams on care coordination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
