About The Position

HealthPRO Pediatrics is hiring a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Early Intervention team in Ithaca, New York. This part-time opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting young children and their families during critical developmental years while enjoying a flexible schedule and supportive team environment. The primary purpose of the School Based Speech Language Pathologist position is diagnostic assessment and therapeutic treatment of pediatric students in a school setting, who demonstrate speech, language and swallowing deficits with the goal of helping them reach their maximum performance potential within an educational model of practice.

Requirements

• Graduate from an ASHA accredited Speech Therapy program
• Current State Speech Therapist license
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA when applicable
• Current CPR certification
• Efficient problem-solving skills
• Exceptional communication skills and time management skills
• Must keep best interest of the client and family at the forefront of all activities

• Demonstrate knowledge of principles, techniques, materials and equipment in pediatric speech therapy.
• Ability to evaluate a patient’s speech therapy needs and communicate the patient’s needs to the legal guardian and/or appropriate parties involved in the patient’s care.
• Ability to communicate with a high degree of written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of CPT & ICD 10 coding procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of speech therapy principles and practices.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of computer programs (EMRs)

Responsibilities

• Providing speech and language therapy services in natural environments
• Conducting evaluations and developmental screenings
• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
• Supporting communication, language, feeding, and functional developmental skills
• Coaching and educating parents and caregivers
• Completing documentation and progress reports
• Collaborating with families and other Early Intervention professionals
• Provides skilled speech therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results of patients.
• Adheres to state requirements for supervision of SLPAs and Clinical Fellows to provide services with the highest care standards
• Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment/ follow up programs.
• Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding patient limitations/interventions, treatments, responses and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries.
• Maintains patient records confidentially.
• Records treatment charges daily and completes documentation in accurate and timely manner.
• Complies with the applicable State Speech Therapy Practice Act, codes and regulations
• Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
• Maintains clean work area, clean treatment rooms and requests needed supplies.
• Maintains professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and other professionals as it relates to collaboration of care for the patient.
• Keeps regular clinic hours as approved by Manager.
• Directs all patient scheduling matters through the front desk coordinator.
• Attends meetings as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
