About The Position

Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned. Responsible for supporting the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with daily classroom activities, assisting in data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and providing these items to the staff. Create a therapeutic/educational environment for the student. Review facilitator expectations/roles and responsibilities. Ensure optimal functionality of technology and equipment for teletherapy sessions, including checking student devices, internet stability, and platform setup. Create a conducive environment for students, managing lighting, noise, and distractions while facilitating access to necessary materials. Support students in utilizing web-based tools, and fostering confidence with technology. Collaborate with audiologists/SLPs to implement behavior management strategies and adjust interventions as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Applicant must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position.
  • Applicant must be able to provide student-specific personal care support to students.
  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with children with special needs.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to move quickly from one position to another in response to student needs.
  • Desire to work in a team setting.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Upper body strength with the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. required.
  • Regular attendance is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • CPI training (training provided)
  • CPR/First Aid (training provided)
  • Paraprofessional experience preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred, but not required.
