About The Position
This position is a substitute position with a charter school district in San Antonio. Ability to work in 78235. The role involves following lesson plans, maintaining a safe classroom environment, implementing classroom management strategies, adapting teaching methods, collaborating with staff, providing feedback to the regular teacher, and completing all training required by TEA.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong writing, reading and communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and maintain discipline
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different grade levels and subject areas
- Ability to lift and carry 40 Lbs
- Be able to remain active for up to 8 hours consecutively, and have the ability to kneel, crouch, or sit comfortably
- Visually and audibly able to monitor the classrooms and students and navigate for emergencies
- Have the physical ability to perform CPR
- To be able to move swiftly in emergency situations
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, tutoring, or related fields is preferred
- Familiarity with pre k- elementary school students is strongly encouraged
- Experience working with students of various ages and abilities, including preschool and special education students, is a plus
- Higher education in education or related field is a plus
- Prior experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred
Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of learning
- Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment
- Implement classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and behavior management
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students
- Collaborate with other staff members to support student success
- Provide feedback to the regular classroom teacher regarding student progress and any issues that arise during your assignment
- Complete all training required by TEA
