About The Position

Working under the direction of the principal or assigned evaluator, administers the classroom in accordance with School Board policies and uses instructional and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. Classroom teachers will fulfill duties and responsibilities associated with instruction, supervision, classroom management, student assessment and evaluation, communication and collaboration, and extracurricular involvement. Teachers are held accountable for meeting the TAP Teaching Skills, Knowledge, and Responsibilities Performance Standards, research-based standards based on twenty-six indicators and operationalized against a five-point scale rubric. Teachers are also responsible for the academic growth of their students.

Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties.
Possesses physical health to report regularly to work and deal effectively with students.
Exhibits ability to plan, organize.

Responsibilities

Planning effective lessons aligned to the standards is dependent upon the teacher’s ability to create and communicate clearly defined learning outcomes or objectives appropriate for the students.
Organize and present the content in a manner that motivates students to learn.
Teach content within a lesson using visuals and clear communication of performance expectations in a concise and logically sequenced manner.
Effectively segment the lesson so that sufficient time is allocated to all parts of the lesson to best support student learning.
Choose a variety of appropriate activities and materials that address various learning styles and intelligences, supporting lesson objectives and student needs.
Ask effective questions and lead students in responding to questions.
Provide quality feedback that supports student learning and adjust instruction based on student feedback.
Arrange students for instruction and activities and hold them accountable for their work.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the content being taught and connect it to other ideas and concepts.
Know students' learning styles and interests.
Implement different types of thinking including: Analytical Thinking, Practical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Research-based Thinking, providing opportunities for students to generate ideas, analyze problems, monitor their thinking, and attend to critical information.
Develop problem-solving skills in students by providing opportunities to practice different approaches.
Develop strong lesson plans that contribute to better-managed classrooms and more effective learning experiences.
Develop and observe student work that enhances and reinforces instruction, aligned to pre-tests and post-tests and state standards.
Implement effective assessment plans to determine student learning and guide instruction.
Set high and demanding expectations for every student, creating opportunities for success and selecting challenging activities and materials.
Reinforce and reward student efforts, encouraging them to learn from mistakes and take risks.
Create a safe learning environment where student efforts are reinforced and valued.
Implement lessons with appropriate structure and pacing for students who progress at different learning rates.
Manage student behavior effectively and efficiently, modeling clear expectations and using a variety of techniques based on individual student needs and interests.
Organize the classroom environment, including physical arrangement and availability of supplies.
Create a positive classroom climate by developing and modeling collaborative ground rules.
Promptly attend professional development meetings, bringing student artifacts when requested.
Implement new learning in the classroom following professional development.
Develop and work on a yearly plan for new learning based on school improvement plans, goals, self-assessment, and input from leadership.
Select specific activities, content knowledge, or pedagogical skills to enhance proficiency.
Make thoughtful and accurate assessments of lessons' effectiveness through self-reflection and offer specific actions for improvement.
Accept responsibilities contributing to school improvement.
Utilize student achievement data to address student strengths and weaknesses and guide instructional decisions.
Actively support school activities and events.
Accept leadership responsibilities and/or assist peers in contributing to a safe and orderly school environment.
Administer classroom in accordance with Caddo Parish School Board policies and regulations, including lesson planning, grading, reporting grades, and contributing to school improvement.
Accept and exercise responsibilities for administrative/management, curricular, and extra-curricular aspects of the school, including supervision at authorized school activities, sponsoring groups or clubs, and supervising students during various times and events.
Work tactfully, harmoniously, and collaboratively with staff, parents, students, and public stakeholders.
Report promptly to work and maintain good attendance.
Attend meetings associated with student instruction, including departmental meetings, professional training, IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, open houses, observation/evaluation meetings, and student discipline hearings/meetings.
Complete all mandated trainings.
Appear neat, dress appropriately for the profession, and be well-groomed.
Maintain a high standard of professional conduct based on ethical practices.
Accept other responsibilities as required by the Principal or designee.
