About The Position

Mardan is a therapeutic not-for-profit school for students in grades K through 12 with special academic, social, and emotional needs. We are located in Irvine CA. Our mission is to improve the academic and emotional well-being of any child who struggles with learning, social, and/or emotional challenges. We provide a safe, therapeutic learning environment that teaches the academic, social, and coping skills needed for students to experience success. This is a part-time Teacher position in a special education high school classroom of up to 12 students with social/emotional, learning, and behavioral issues. The role involves teaching 2-3 classes per day, specifically science and history. Classes operate from late August to late July annually, making this an 11-month position.

Requirements

• A valid CA Mild Moderate Special Education credential with autism authorization is required.
• Knowledge and experience with special education.
• Knowledge and experience with behavior management techniques.
• Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders is required.
• Submit a COMPLETE application, resume, and a copy of a valid California special education teaching credential.

Responsibilities

• Teach 2-3 classes per day in a special education high school classroom.
• Teach science and history subjects.
• Manage a classroom of up to 12 students with social/emotional, learning, and behavioral issues.
• Provide a safe, therapeutic learning environment.
• Teach academic, social, and coping skills to students.
