About The Position

Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated SPED Certified Elementary Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students receiving special education services while working collaboratively with general education teachers, families, and campus leadership. The SPED Certified Elementary Teacher will be responsible for implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting students in inclusive and small-group settings, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with special education requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Valid Texas Special Education certification required.
  • Elementary teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary students and students with disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of IEPs, ARD processes, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and vision of Promesa Academy Charter School.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Experience in an inclusion or resource setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with TEKS and data-driven instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
  • Implement IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications.
  • Support students in general education, resource, and/or small-group instructional settings.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure student access to grade-level curriculum.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and provide input on student needs and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records related to services, accommodations, progress monitoring, and compliance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, and service providers.
  • Support students academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and campus initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
