About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Richmond, Virginia. The role supports clinical laboratory testing by preparing, identifying, labeling, sorting, routing, storing, and shipping specimens, while entering patient information and resolving specimen issues. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. The position contributes to department activity and production goals and helps ensure the accuracy of healthcare testing. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with overtime as business needs demand and rotating weekends required. The pay range is $17.75 to $26.00 per hour, plus shift differential. Job offers are based on skills, relevant experience, applicable degrees or certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One year of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and promptly.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
