About The Position

The Specimen Processor performs a variety of tasks to support high customer satisfaction in a cost-effective manner. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the position assists with maintaining daily workflow throughout the program. The role is based at Mercey Gilbert Medical Center and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Process specimen requisitions quickly and accurately, ensuring information is correct and all requested tests are ordered.
• Match requested tests with appropriate specimens and label specimens according to established procedures.
• Process STAT specimens in a timely manner.
• Print patient charts when requested.
• Provide callers with accurate information in a timely and positive manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including collecting and disposing of specimens and contaminated materials according to established procedures and infection-control, body-fluid precaution, and protective-equipment standards.
• Participate in the billing process when requested, including separating clean and dirty requisitions or cleaning dirty requisitions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
