About The Position

We are seeking an energetic Specimen Processor with exceptional attention to detail to enhance our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sample processing, communication and reporting, operational duties, safety and compliance, customer service, and maintaining reliable attendance. This position is in a laboratory setting with automated equipment, requiring interaction with colleagues and adherence to safety protocols. You will handle potentially infectious samples and perform various physical tasks throughout the day. Interpath Laboratory is a growing, family-owned and operated clinical laboratory serving communities across multiple states, known for its rapid, reliable, and cost-effective testing. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous specimen processing experience (preferred, but not required)
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
  • Strict adherence to laboratory protocols and quality control standards
  • Must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs
  • Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield)
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day
  • Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process samples efficiently, ensuring turnaround times
  • Maintain specimen integrity and package samples for referral labs
  • Accurately translate physician orders and diagnoses
  • Verify and manage specimen details and perform data entry
  • Assess specimen adequacy with technical assistance if needed
  • Prepare specimens and perform screening procedures accurately
  • Respond to colleague inquiries and manage instrumentation alarms
  • Print and distribute reports
  • Follow daily checklists and ensure timely task completion
  • Adapt to covering shifts and locations as needed
  • Handle additional duties as assigned
  • Adhere to safety protocols and quality assurance practices
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and follow Medicare rules for ABNs
  • Monitor the work environment for safety issues
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients
