About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Richmond, Virginia. The role supports clinical laboratory testing by preparing, sorting, identifying, routing, storing, and shipping specimens; entering patient information; and resolving and documenting specimen problems. The work takes place in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment and follows established standard operating procedures. The position also involves meeting department activity and production goals. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with overtime as business needs demand and rotating weekends required. The pay range is $17.75–$26.00 per hour, plus shift differential. Offers are based on skills, relevant experience, applicable degrees or certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One year of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning and sample sorting according to established standard operating procedures.
