About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Hillside, Illinois. The role involves preparing, sorting, identifying, labeling, storing, and shipping laboratory specimens, along with entering patient information and resolving specimen issues. Work takes place in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment and follows established standard operating procedures. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The pay range is $17.75 to $22.00 per hour; offers are based on skills, relevant experience, degrees or certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
