Specimen Processor
About The Position
The Specimen Processor is responsible for preparing and aliquoting incoming samples for reference lab testing. This role involves stocking supply bins, troubleshooting Medical Assistant and Provider questions, and performing order entry for Quest Diagnostic samples. The Specimen Processor will also be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, monitoring supply usage, and identifying and communicating errors to the lab manager. Additionally, this position will provide backup for client services and the lab manager for incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate parties.
Requirements
- Commitment to providing high quality care to historically underserved populations
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, Excel, Word and how to use Electronic Medical Records
- Experience with patient centered care
- Punctuality and impeccable attendance
- Strong communication skills with both professionals and patients from all demographics
- Non-judgmental approach to patient care
- Technical skills with required office equipment
- Patience and great attention to detail
- Completely understand the healthcare privacy laws as outlined in HIPAA

Responsibilities
- Prepare and aliquot incoming samples for reference lab testing
- Stock supply bins
- Troubleshoot Medical Assistant and Provider questions, escalate to lab manager when appropriate
- Order entry for Quest Diagnostic samples
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces
- Monitor supply usage and inform lab manager if low on inventory
- Identify errors and communicate to lab manager for review
- Backup to client services and lab manager for incoming calls – direct calls to necessary parties
