About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Work Schedule: per diem, as needed. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, unpacking and routing specimens, accurately identifying and labeling them, packing and shipping them to proper testing facilities, meeting department activity and production goals, properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples, and performing data entry of patient information accurately and in a timely manner. The role also includes resolving and documenting any problem specimens.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
