About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor II to join their team in Columbia, TN. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, communicating with client office staff, troubleshooting customer and specimen issues, meeting department goals, and accurately entering patient data. The position also requires accurate specimen identification and labeling, packing and shipping specimens, and scrubbing requisitions. Special services like spinning, freezing, and splitting specimens may also be required. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic or hospital
  • 1 year of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Communicate effectively with client office staff
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
  • Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client
