About The Position

A Specimen Processor I prepares and handles specimens received for testing. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Excellent organizational, communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
• Detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
• Basic computer knowledge needed.

Nice To Haves

• Data entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direct supervision of an employee or supervisor who is trained and competent in all relative procedures and processes pertaining to accessioning as well as other assigned processes.
• Prepares and handles specimens for testing, including assigning accession IDs, comparing and verifying identifiers, ensuring proper labeling, scanning and filing paperwork, and transporting specimens to testing labs.
• Maintains competency in all assigned laboratory policies and procedures.
• Observes all compliance and regulatory requirements, particularly those associated to data security and patient confidentiality.
• Maintains ethical standards in the performance of testing and in interactions with co-workers and other staff.
• Meets productivity and quality standards/rates set by the department and lab operations.
• Works with team members to resolve department problems and help implement improvement projects.
