About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Edison, New Jersey. The position prepares clinical specimens for analysis and testing, including accessioning, sorting, data entry, labeling, routing, packing, and shipping. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. The role also involves meeting department activity and production goals, storing excess samples, and resolving and documenting problem specimens. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., with rotating Saturdays. The pay range is $17.75 to $20.00 per hour, with a second-shift differential. Benefits eligibility depends on regularly scheduled hours.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfortable handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One or more years of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack specimens and route them to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and promptly.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
