About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Sunrise, Florida. This role prepares, sorts, identifies, labels, routes, stores, packs, and ships laboratory specimens for analysis and testing. It also involves entering patient information and resolving and documenting specimen problems. The work is performed in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures, with department activity and production goals to meet. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with rotating Saturdays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Candidates should be comfortable handling biological specimens and able to lift up to 40 pounds and pass a standardized color blindness test.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfortable handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficient in MS Office.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One year or more of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
