About The Position

Assists the anatomic pathology lab by performing pre-analytic, post-analytic, and support functions.

  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
  • 1+ years of experience in a similar position and can achieve productivity and demonstrate proficiency of all skills in that level. (Required) or less than 1 year Funding Healthcare Futures Program Participant (entry level) (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Accessions specimens for cytology and/or surgical pathology.
  • Performs specimen processing for further workup in the anatomic pathology laboratory.
  • Triages specimens within the department.
  • Maintains equipment, re-stocks supplies and reagents.
  • Able to resolve problem cases independently.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks within the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
