About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Specimen Management team in Phoenix, AZ. This role is not remote. The Specimen Management Specialist will act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients, resolving internal and external customer requests via calls, instant messenger, and email communications. The position involves working in multiple databases to research complex issues, providing customer education, reviewing test forms for accuracy, preparing and triaging specimens for analysis, accurately identifying and labeling specimens, packing and shipping specimens, and preparing and storing excess specimen samples. Labcorp is passionate about helping people live happy and healthy lives by providing vital information that helps clients and patients understand their health.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • Associates degree
  • One year or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
  • Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications.
  • Communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
  • Provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
