The Specimen Data & Quality Coordinator serves as the vital link between laboratory operations, client services, and quality assurance. Requirements

  • Previous experience in a medical, laboratory, or healthcare environment with a solid grasp of medical terminology and lab testing processes.
  • Experience thriving in a high-volume, production-based, or fast-paced processing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and a strong aptitude for learning proprietary database systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a low error rate.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with both internal lab teams and external clients.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and strong critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and perform repetitive keyboarding tasks.
  • Frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, and lifting as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Validate, review, and verify laboratory orders within the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Patient Service Center (PSC) databases to guarantee absolute accuracy.
  • Identify data discrepancies, missing clinical information, or specimen-related issues. Resolve discrepancies directly or escalate complex problems quickly to minimize impact on patient results.
  • Master all functions within the Data Entry and Quality Control department, providing coverage, cross-validation support, and assistance with ongoing staff training.
  • Track quality control metrics, report operational inconsistencies to leadership, and participate in process-improvement initiatives to boost efficiency.
  • Promptly communicate specimen collection, processing, and data-entry updates to clients, healthcare providers, and internal lab personnel.
  • Hit established departmental productivity and accuracy benchmarks within your first three months.
