About The Position
Sagis Diagnostics is looking to hire a PRN/ ON-CALL Specimen Collector to cover Carrollton, Waxahachie, Denton, and Fort Worth. This role involves facilitating the collection, processing, handling, and shipping of urine and oral fluid specimens. The position requires adherence to policies and procedures for patient identification, specimen labeling, requisition completion, and packaging/shipping. The Specimen Collector will also demonstrate customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff, and must communicate effectively with a diverse patient population. Strict adherence to universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA guidelines is mandatory. The role includes informing the Supervisor of daily tasks and any unusual problems, adhering to Sagis Standard Operating Procedures, and picking up, packaging, and shipping specimens as needed.
Requirements
- High-school or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of specimen collector experience preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Proficient in data entry required
- Clean driving record and valid driver license required
- Reliable mode of transportation required
Nice To Haves
- Urine Drug Screening (UDS) collection experience highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the collection, processing, handling, and shipping of urine and oral fluid specimens
- Follow policies and procedures to correctly identify the patient
- Properly label specimens and complete the requisition form via paper or online portal
- Follow policies and procedures to properly package and ship specimens
- Demonstrate customer service & compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
- Communicate with, understand, and react effectively to a diverse patient population base
- Follow universal precautions and all OSHA standards when handling specimens
- Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Inform Supervisor of daily tasks, unusual problems or deviations from established procedures
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures of Sagis while working at the physician’s office
- Pick-up, package and ship the specimens when needed
