About The Position
Millennium Health LLC is an accredited specialty laboratory providing medication monitoring and drug testing services to support clinicians caring for people with chronic pain, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The Specimen Collector represents Millennium Health and provides care and customer service to patients, clinicians, and the laboratory. This part-time position is based in Morganton, North Carolina, and is scheduled Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., four hours per week. Travel between multiple facilities may be required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to navigate a smartphone and computer.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA, HiTrust, confidentiality, and compliance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ability to adhere to administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity controls.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of sitting 60% of the time, walking 20%, standing 20%, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Successful completion of the required pre-employment background screening, including criminal history, global watchlist, SSN trace, FACIS Level 3, SAM and OIG exclusions, education verification, driving record, and 5-panel urine drug screening.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of experience as a specimen collector, or at least 1 year of medical-field experience directly supporting patients.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience may be considered in place of medical experience.
- Medical insurance or billing experience and/or familiarity with medications or diagnostic codes.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient urine and/or oral fluid (saliva) specimens.
- Process and package collections for shipping.
- Serve as an intermediary between the practice or clinic and the laboratory.
- Record patient information, physician order details, and pertinent laboratory information.
- Resolve specimen concerns involving billing or patient information in the ordering portal.
- Order and maintain onsite collection supplies inventory.
- Observe collections for Millennium Health specimens when applicable.
- Drive to and from multiple facilities when required.
