About The Position

Sagis Diagnostics is seeking a full-time Specimen Collector in Ingram, TX. This role involves facilitating the collection, processing, handling, and shipping of urine and oral fluid specimens. The Specimen Collector will follow established policies and procedures to ensure correct patient identification, proper specimen labeling, and accurate completion of requisition forms. They will also be responsible for packaging and shipping specimens, demonstrating excellent customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff. Effective communication with a diverse patient population and strict adherence to universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA guidelines are essential. The role requires informing the Supervisor of daily tasks and any unusual problems or deviations. The Specimen Collector must adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures of Sagis while working at the physician’s office and may be responsible for picking up and shipping specimens.

Requirements

  • High-school or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of specimen collector experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Proficient in data entry required
  • Urine Drug Screening (UDS) collection experience highly preferred
  • Clean driving record and valid driver license required
  • Reliable mode of transportation required

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the collection, processing, handling, and shipping of urine and oral fluid specimens
  • Follow policies and procedures to correctly identify the patient
  • Properly label specimens and complete the requisition form via paper or online portal
  • Follow policies and procedures to properly package and ship specimens
  • Demonstrate customer service & compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
  • Communicate with, understand, and react effectively to a diverse patient population base
  • Follow universal precautions and all OSHA standards when handling specimens
  • Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Inform Supervisor of daily tasks, unusual problems or deviations from established procedures
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures of Sagis while working at the physician’s office
  • Pick-up, package and ship the specimens when needed
