About The Position

The Specification Sales Trainee will support the sales team in developing customer relationships, learning the lighting and controls industry, and assisting with project opportunities. This role is designed for someone interested in building a career in specification sales through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to the architectural lighting community.

Requirements

  • Ability to build professional relationships and provide excellent customer service
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous industry-related experience is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team in maintaining relationships with specifiers, designers, contractors, and manufacturer partners
  • Assist with identifying new business opportunities and prospecting potential accounts
  • Participate in customer meetings, product presentations, and showroom visits
  • Learn lighting and control system products, applications, and industry terminology
  • Help prepare proposals, budget pricing, and project documentation
  • Respond to customer inquiries and assist in resolving basic technical questions
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support customer needs and project follow-up
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and project activity
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability
  • Adapt to changing business needs and priorities
  • Participate in training opportunities and industry events
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally attend events outside of traditional business hours
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor
