About The Position

As a Specialty Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company, highlighting our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. Through your specialty knowledge, you will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You must be capable of learning about what we sell and be able to articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. Requirements

  • In-depth technical knowledge of how products work, warranties, and ability to compare products by features.
  • 1-2 years of Retail or relevant work experience required.
  • 6 months of product-specific experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios.
  • Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to understand and problem-solve customer needs.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
  • Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
  • Direct customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card.
  • Provide premier customer service.
  • Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships, taking accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
  • Use specific knowledge to demonstrate product features and provide comparisons with similar products.
  • When selling clothing or military uniforms, may be required to take upper and lower body measurements for the purpose of ensuring proper fit of tailored articles.
  • Maintain store appearance.
  • Cross-sell products and know the layout of the store.
  • Make suggestions to customers on the latest trends and current promotions based on their individual needs.
  • Upsell products.
  • Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge and specifications.
  • Use a Point-of-Sales system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and handle cash, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
  • Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
  • May handle special order merchandise requests, including ordering, tracking, and providing updates to customers.
  • Be the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
  • May participate in periodic inventories.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule.
  • Ensure accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
