About The Position
Amgen is seeking a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as the primary customer contact in the territory covering Elizabeth City, Hertford, Ahoskie, and Aulander, North Carolina. The representative provides medical professionals with clinical knowledge about Amgen products and helps them navigate the payer environment. The role implements marketing strategy and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager, supporting appropriate product utilization and Amgen’s commitment to serving patients. Relocation is not offered. The position level and title will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The role calls for a motivated sales professional who can build customer relationships, plan territory activities, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively while upholding Amgen’s values.
Requirements
- Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree, or an associate degree and 4 years of sales experience, or a high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or an associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
- Adaptability in the core competencies of sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, and/or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide current, comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate utilization.
- Drive territory sales by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, resolving or triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Share best practices with colleagues and seek opportunities to learn and grow.
- Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the company’s brand, and remain focused on serving patients.
