Specialty Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician at our Proprium Specialty Pharmacy in Chesapeake, VA. This is a Full Time position working 40 hours per week on the Day Shift (8AM-5PM), with occasional Saturdays. The Specialty Pharmacy Tech performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. They are responsible for filling and delivering medications, ensuring adequate supplies for patient care, triaging and escalating issues, processing patient information using appropriate systems, maintaining quality assurance, and operating pharmacy equipment appropriately. Additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Nice To Haves
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB)
- 1 Year Pharmacy Experience
Responsibilities
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
